Grayling Terrace is a small neighborhood in southern Fort McMurray hidden away in the Hangingstone River Valley.
Grayling Terrace is a car dependant neighborhood, but it does have public transportation. There are two bus stops on Grayling Crescent, the major residential street loop in this subdivision. There are no commercial or retail outlets in this neighborhood, so it has a very low walk score in the single digits. Conversely, the wilderness and river are right outside of your back door, and you don’t have to move far from town to enjoy it when you live in Grayling Terrace.
Grayling Terrace is located next to Memorial Drive, though you have to exit on Hospital Drive and take Abasand Drive south to reach this subdivision. The Hangingstone River runs along the southern border of this neighborhood.
Grayling Crescent creates a loop around this neighborhood, and several dead-end streets radiate out from it. This gives Grayling Crescent many private cul-de-sacs for home buyers to pick from. Abbotswood Drive and Abasand Drive are the only roads into this neighborhood, both of which connect Grayling Terrace with the rest of Abasand.
Abasand Heights is directly west of Grayling Terrace, while Adrian / Arsenault are just north of Abasand Heights
Lower Townsite and Keyano College are directly east of Grayling Terrace, but you have to drive ten to twenty minutes to get there from this community.
Landmarks and Events
The Hangingstone River is the closest major waterway to this neighborhood.
This community is a short distance from the Northern Lights Medical Center.
Simons Park and Lucas Park are located in north Abasand Heights. This neighborhood provides every resident with a clear view of the northern lights.
Schools and Family Friendly Services
Father Beauregard Catholic School is located in Abasand Heights. The Ecole Broeale is located at the center of the Abasand Heights neighborhood. The parks by these schools include soccer fields, rugby fields, playgrounds, an ice rink, skateboard park, running tracks and a trail system. However, there aren’t any community parks in Grayling Terrace itself. Instead, residents gain access to the extensive riverfront and boreal forests around this neighborhood.
The Keyano College is about a ten minutes drive from Abasand Heights.
The Abasand Heights real estate market consists of around 1,800 homes, but Grayling Terrace is probably the smallest subdivision in this part of Fort McMurray Grayling Terrace offers a mix of single family homes for sale and multi-family housing. There are a number of duplexes in Grayling Terrace as well as affordable family homes. Many homes here were built in the 1980s. A number of properties that come up for sale have finished basements that add extra living space or additional bedrooms to the home.
